Adam writes, produces and performs his own music and is active freelance bassist in NYC. 

His music has been featured in the hit TV series "Degrassi", "Heartland" and the films "Abduction" and "Wet Behind the Ears".

His scores for Noah Fischers' Manifesto Currency series (narrated by Peter Coyote) has been featured on CNN.

An accomplished composer, arranger and educator as well as bassist, Adam led the successful folk/rock/klezmer/funk 14-piece big band All God's Children for six years. The Aquarian Weekly (NJ) named Adam "Best Bassist" and the band "Best Band" in 1993. He later performed and/or recorded with a wide range of talented musicians and dancers, including Levon Helm, Jonathan Coulton, Julie Klausner, Jim Boggia, John Roderick, Marty Beller, Mary McBride, Loser's Lounge, Sahib Shihab, Perry Robinson, Walter Perkins, Ethel (string quartet), Teocinte (from El Salvador), Jack Hardy, Claire Daly, The Angstones, Solar, David Driver, Sean Altman and Jennifer Muller/The Works. In 1990 Adam toured Japan with Hilario Soto's Higher Culture, and in 1993 studied percussion at the Escuela Nacional De Danzaq Moderna Y Folklorica in Havana, Cuba. 

In 1998, while continuing to perform and record, Adam turned his attention toward jazz education. He recently ended his tenure as jazz director at the Berkeley-Carroll School in Brooklyn, NY and on the faculty at Jazz at Lincoln Center. He received a proclamation for his outstanding work in jazz education from Brooklyn Borough president Marty Markowitz on June 3, 2005. He runs the Music Mindfulness Program, an innovative music program combining meditation and music instruction for all age students.

"The D n A Singles" (2014) are being released right now. Adam's digital 45's project was funded by a successful IndieGogo campaign. Two songs, a virtual A and B side will be released once a month through Oct 2014. The entire collection, plus many bonus demos will released on CD for the holiday season.

 “Big Kid, Little Kid” (2013) is Adam’s first children’s music CD. After four years as bassist/vocalist for children’s music star Laurie Berkner, he has released his own collection of fun, infectious songs for kids that the whole family can enjoy.

Adam Bernstein's new CD "The World Becomes Your Mirror" (2011) is produced, arranged and recorded by Adam and features the great musicianship of Marty Beller, Jack Petruzzelli, Paul Carbonara, and many others.

"Dust Off The Timeless Night" (2007) is produced by "They Might Be Giants" drummer Marty Beller. Special guests include Laurie Berkner, Jack Petruzzelli (Rufus Wainwright/Fab Faux), Peter Kiesewalter (East Village Opera Co.) and Tricia Scotti.
